Veganism: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Nowadays, many people would consider Veganism being a trend that most people want to be part of thinking it’s a much better way of healthy eating.  

It has shown from studies that when these diets are followed correctly that they tend to contain more fiber, antioxidants, potassium, magnesium, vitamins A, C and E.  

Protein is essential in a vegans diet as we need it for keeping muscles, skin and organs healthy. We tend to usually get our protein from red meats, but there is also other ways of consuming protein, e.g. Legumes, nuts, seeds, grains etc. 

Iron is another key nutrient and plays a crucial role in the production of red blood cells which help to carry oxygen throughout your body. Good sources include beans, broccoli, raisins, wheat and tofu.  

Going vegan has its health benefits by lowering your risks of Coronary Heart Disease and Type 2 Diabetes as animal products are high in saturated fats and cholesterol which clog the atretries.  

Veganism doesn’t always have to be related to healthy eating, people might also choose to go vegan if they don’t agree with the way that the animals are treated and the processes that they are put through on a daily basis in order to get products from them. 

It is not proven that animal products are necessary in the average human diet. We as humans have been brought up our whole lives thinking that we need to consume dairy in order to survive. 

This is untrue and we think it’s completely okay to consume these products because we don’t see the dark and scary side to how these animals are processed in order to get a

However, there has been some controversary going around that vegans have been gaining weight due to the fact that they are buying and consuming branded name products and not checking the ingredients in them. Vegans think they’re great but really they’re just buying them because people are promoting them to get more money. These products could be high in fats or salt etc and they couldn’t care less because it looks good on a plate.
